>Winchester didn't manufacture the tools they sold but instead like Keen Kutter and many Hardware sellers had others make them and put the Winchester logo on for them.I am not sure who made the winchester chisels but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Witherby or Winsted Edge tool works a name you often see on Witherby chisels.Every Winchester chisel I have ever seen was a socket chisel as are most Witherbys and they do sort of look alike though I admit I am just guessing on the connection.I sort of think that the Winchester chisels were aimed at the hobbiest and home owner market and are not all that rare today[or worth much $ either]....Winchester venture into the hardware field almost bankrupted the gun maker by the way.....
