Glue blocks

>Glue blocks are not fashionable these days and that is a shame. They add tremendous strength and are a great way to get rid of cutoffs. Most of the antique casegoods I have worked on are full of glueblocks. I challenge everyone to remember this old cabinetmaker's trick and use them in projects when appropriate.

Being self taught, and noticing them in the antiques I've looked at, I use them.

Again, while I have no data to back me up it always seemed like one of those can't hurt, might help sort of deals (actually, more like ought to help, can't hurt). And they are easy and quick to put in.

Seems like a useful life philosophy: always do something if it is easy and fairly painless, carries little risk, and might help.
