I was looking up Mujingfang planes....and was quite engrossed in that discussion that came up back in early May....I'm doomed to have to try a few of the Mujingfang polishing planes.

I've been emailing with Steve Knight and have several of his planes on order.... : ). I really like the fine adjustment available on woodies - a few taps with the hammer and you can adjust finer than the bailey adjuster on old Stanley's and finer than I can with the Norris style on Veritas planes.

another question....so has anyone actually found the Japanwoodworker Mujingfang plane to be as good as Lyn's version?

>I've had the JapanWoodworker Mufung(sp) smoother since Lyn suggested a year ago(?) that it might be like his test plane. I have been very pleased with it's performance. Only takes a very fine shaving before it clogs--but for a high angle smoother--that's OK for me.

Quite inexpensive. I also bought the "medium" smoother, since I like the large one so much.
