Anatole Burkin, editor of Fine Woodworking magazine, has been building furniture since the mid 1980s. Like a lot of woodworkers, he is primarily self taught, having relied on magazines, books and many hours in the shop to hone his skills.
Burkin spent most of his professional career working for newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda Newspaper Group) and in Tacoma, Wash. (Tacoma News Tribune). He joined the staff of Fine Woodworking magazine in 1996 after seeing an ad in the magazine seeking a journalist with woodworking knowledge.
Besides furniture making, Burkin enjoys home remodeling, bicycling and motorcycling. He lives in Oxford, CT, with his wife, Robin.
