St James Bay Has Me Addled

Is Saint James Bay Tools still in business?

I've visited their web site quite a few times since someone here informed me they carry irons for Stanley #71s and #271s, but I could get nowhere near actually buying something from them. I could not find a "home" page; no matter what I did I was taken straight to the "featured tools" page.

Okay, maybe they don't want to sell over the net any longer. But I also could not find their phone number anywhere! I closely studied each and every page on their site, and the phone number was nowhere to be found. Nor could I find anything that pertains to acquiring any of their wares--except the prices.

Does anyone know what's going on? Are they still doing business? If so, how does one buy something from them? (It seems to me that being in business but not selling anything would be a losing proposition.)

I am a carpenter by trade.Also a handyman/Jack -of-all-trades.I work around my neighborhood mostly helping people keep up their old houses.I have a fairly large woodworking shop in my house where I work with both hand and power tools. At the moment I'm focusing on Windsor chairs building.I will build most anything if needed. I'm always learning,adapting,changing trying to broaden my woodworking skills.I work mostly with hand tools in my shop but will use power if it is a better way to get the desired result. My wife,Donna,and I live in the woods of Maine with our dogs,cats,and birds. We have 5 grown kids and six grandchildren. Woodcentral has been central to my growth as a woodworker. I pass through this place every day.

The company is still in business and doing well, and I know this cause I was just given a gift that was purchased from them directly at the Arizona store. BTW - their number is clearly displayed on the "CONTACTS US" link off their home page.

I bought some #71 blades from them about a year ago. Great quality. I also had a bit of trouble getting a reply. The guys there take their time, but do respond and are helpful. Keep trying.

I still wonder though, why I went straight to the "featured products" page and couldn't get to their home page from there--or anywhere else on the pages that were available from the "featured products" page. It seems to me that they ought not to have such a blind alley.

Good or bad site, he offers a great deal of plane parts and planes them selves. Get him to mail you a catalog.

When I was in AZ I visited his shop and this guy is all about a good product besides being a woodworker. I liked his openness in sharing his knowledge.

I have no other affiliation with his product, other than using it and admiring the craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Thanks for the information.

I've ordered from them before, but I had their printed catalog before me. I had no trouble getting in touch with them before I tossed the catalog. That'll teach me; after all, a catalog is a tool--a tool for getting more tools--and we all hate to get rid of tools.
