He also says that at this time the front infills remained overstuffed, while the rear infills didn't. Your plane has an overstuffed rear infill, which takes more labor, but I don't know how this would relate to its date of production.

The stamp on the top iron (chipbreaker) is also different from the one on most Spiers blades and top irons, which may suggest it was made in the later years.

Your plane looks like a well-preserved example with its original blade and top iron. It would be a good user, but probably has significant collector value.

I'd suggest dinner and a movie as a first date ;-)

The cool thing about Spiers is that the company would, pretty much, make to order anything that the customer wanted.....For a price of course.
