Saturday and Sunday June 26th and 27th bring the 14th Annual Wood Days Festival at the Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury, NH. Admission to the Village is $8 for the day and allows visitors to to get a guided tour of the facilities and free entrance to the festival and the grounds.
Woodworking in every shape and form is the order of the day. Demonstrators will be building Shaker, modern, and period furniture, turners will be demoing on powered and treadle lathes, chairmakers will be making Windsors and Queen Anne chairs, a bandsaw mill will be turning logs into lumber, and the timber framers guild will be demoing their trade. The Homestead Woodworking School and the North Bennett Street School will have their usual boths as will a number of NH wood suppliers. Toolmaking will be represented by our Canadian friends from the Shepherd Tool company, Woodjoy Tools will display, and I will be making hand tools that I sell thru Chester Toolworks. Members of the NH Furnituremasters Association will have a display and demos in the Visitors center and on Sunday the Society of American Period Furniture Makers will hold their meeting in the Center.
Other demos include dovetail boxes, scroll saw work, wood/canvas canoe building, chair caning, and horse drawn logging. As always there is live music both days under the big tent.
The Shaker Village is open 10AM to 5 PM both days.

11th Annual Wood Days Festival June 23-24, 2001
Canterbury Shaker Village- Canterbury, NH
The festival in it's eleventh year has expanded yet again, and in addition to the usual live music woodworking demos, and items for sale, there are a few surprises. With a theme of "from tree to table", logs will be drawn by horse team to the portable sawmill and cut into lumber. Furniture making demos will be given by Garrett Hack, Tom McLaughlin, Jasmine Smedberg and members of the Guild of NH Woodworkers.
Ron Raiselis will be coopering, Jay Traynor will be working on wood/ canvas canoes,and Ernie Grimes will be giving demos on the Treadle lathe. Music will come from Bluegrass bands, folk performers, and jazz musicians. With a little bit of luck the Shaker Dry House cabinet shop will be running on steam for the first time since 1926.
