Do It The Hard Way

Richard Gillespie

>Another bookcase for a grandchild, 2nd granddaughter. This is a duplicate of one made for the first. This one is made of Ash. The hardwood supplier had a very poor selection of maple when I went.

I used hand cut dovetails with miter corners for the top and wedged through tenons for the bottom shelf. The middle upright has sliding dovetails on both ends.

My LOML says I couldn't make a living making furniture this way. It takes too long. She's right of course but I'm building it for family.
