Spiers Tote size

>Hello Everyone,

I am in the prcess of revivng an old Spier's coffin shaped smoother and am giving it a walnut tote.

I have pics of whatt the tote looks like from the side but don't have any actual dimensions. How long were these totes (from end grain to end grain) and how wide were these suckers?

TIA,

Dan Clermont

>Be fore warned this is from a flat sided spires (older w/upsidedown printed lever cap). the dimensions: end to end (from inside of bottom of the dovetailed sole plate)=4.62in. Handle width 1.16in. Hope this helps, I can trace it if needed or provide pic.

>Thanks Scott,

I finished it last night and am really happy with my results. Ther tote ended up being just over 1 1/8" and haven't checked for height but it is just under the blade.

Thanks,

Dan Clermont

>A little taller might not be bad either. You couldn't add too much it, but it would help. I hold mine with a 3 finger grip around the tote because of it's height, still it a very comfortable plane to use.
