Flattening
John Hoffman
>I was on my way to purchase a diamond stone but held up after seeing the recent messages on the DMT. Woodcraft is offering the Eze-Lap stone for $49.00 (that is the one I was after). Supposed to be designed for flattening things. Anyway I remembered a tip I saw in Popular Woodworking and tried flattening with medium drywall sanding screens. I laid one on top of a piece of cardboard (thin) and clamped to the metal wing of my table saw. It cut very fast and I was able to flatten two plane irons and some chisels. Anyone else use this method and have success? I will try to flatten the sole of my record block plane on it.
