I have read all the books and I study all the pics posted here of others' benches.

With Record quick release getting hard to find, any other good vises? Saw a Groz (sp?) at Woodcraft today, anyone have experence? Others?

Thanks, as always, (and keep posting those pics)

I have not used one, though.

>Rick,

I bought the bigger Groz vise from Highland HW for $99.It has worked very well so far.I did replace the cheesy plastic bench dog with a home made wooden one though.

>Dang, Jim, I've had a mild lust for one of those right-angle Wiltons for years - let us know how it works out. Years ago, Consumer Reports did a test on woodworker's vises (kind of amazing when you think about it) and this one was top-rated because it gripped equally well horizontally and vertically.

I need to spend more time cruising eBay - well, no, maybe I don't - I now can't fit all my chisels in the drawer I keep them in.
