Chair making class

John Hoffman

>I recently attended a windsor chair class in Cobden, Ontario taught by Dave Fleming. It was wonderful and I built a very nice Welsh Stick chair. The best part of the class was that it was two students (including myself) and Dave. His shop was next to his house and we were served tea and lunch by his wife Sandy. While it is a bit far for most of us it was top notch. Cost was about $500 U.S. not counting beer. Anyway we used all hand tools. I highly recommend it.

Details!

Greg Btit, Vergennes, VT

>Hi John,

It sounded like a great time!

Was it a low back, or a comb back or what? Got any pictures? Did you do any bending? Turning? What woods did you use? Did you rive any of the workpieces directly from the log? What tools did you use? What was your favorite tool/method of work? How did you find out about the class? How can Dave be reached?

Thanks,

Greg

>I haven't taken the class but I have met Dave, he is one of the nicest people you could meet.

A fellow woodworker here in town took his course and raved about it. He also gloated about the treadle lathe he built as a result of Dave's Windsor Chair course.

You of course now realise you have to cough up pictures of your chair!!!
