>well lets see. the shapton stones will last about 5x longer or more. they cut faster they need far less flattening too.

>I use 80 grit zirconia for the bulk of the work thats far faster then any stone I have tried on the makita. then I use the 1000 shapton stone on the makita to flatten the back and finish the bevel. the stone is out of flat (one side has a hump) this seems to happen to all makita stones. I am working on removing the hump but with the shapton stone it takes a long time.

I don't know if this is because I free hand on the makita or what but every stone has done it. but so far I have over 2 years on the shapton where I would get maybe 6 months on a makita stone.
