new tool euphoria :)

>I received a couple of recently ordered tools today - the LV medium shoulder plane; the LN scrub plane; and a set of English made oval-handled cabinetmaker's turnscrews.
I have to say, I'm a little unsure of the size of the shoulder plane for my very large hands. I couldn't quite get my fingers into the through-hole comfortably, but I haven't had time to mess with it too much. The machining looks great and it took no time to get feathery shavings right out of the box.
The scrub plane was something I'd put off buying for awhile - I'm not sure if I have time/patience to take rough lumber to flat using planes alone (I know - sacrilige hehe). Still, I took an old pine scrap and clamped it on the bench and tore it to pieces in no time flat with the scrub. What a blast!
The turnscrews were sort of an impulse buy - but I often get frustrated using the plastic-handled drivers I have, and these oval beech handles are wonderful to hold and I'm sure I won't regret purchasing them.
