Can't find a Pheil 25/10?

Schwim in Michigan

>Does anyone have a source for this back bend gouge. Everywhere I've checked has it on backorder. Seems Pheil stopped making it, at least temporarily. I've checked Woodcraft, carving tool companies in Canada, everywhere I can find on the web, etc.

If not, would someone recommend a substitute with the same dimensions and quality. I need it for an upcoming class.

Thanks,

Schwim

>There are other brands that are great, such as Stubai, Dastra, Ashley Iles; and there are other sources to try, say norahall.com and various European dealers.

If no luck there, you may want to search for used Addis; although it's a bit tricky to find a vendor who knows what a 25/10 is.

And if all else fails, ask the instructor if s/he has a spare or two.

>That's a pretty unusual shape of chisel you are looking for. I looked it up in the Two Cherries catalogue and the sweep seems to be a #4 Sweep, item #3134. Two Cherries refers to that shape as a front bent. The closest size it is made in is the 12mm or 14mm.

Hope this helps.

If you haven't worked it out already, e-mail me directly and I can probably help you for the short term (if this is for a Willow Tree Academy class).

Did you ever find one?

Thanks

>Todd, I purchased a Stubai 12mm 4 sweep back bent by phone after finding their website. I hasn't arrived yet, but it seems to be a pretty close match. I spoke with Mark at the Stubai distributor in WI or MN, who had the Pfeil catalogs out for comparison. If your interested just do a web search for Stubai and give them a call.

Also, Jason (above) has graciously offered to lend me his Pfeil. This is a great forum for such kind acts offered by its members. Thanks All!

Hope this helps.
