Great deal on Pfeil carving tools *LINK*

>I stumbled upon a Canadian online store, KMS Tools, that sells Pfeil carving tools. I was shocked to discover that Woodcraft sells them for 65% higher price!!! I bought 7 gouges for $154. The same gouges at Woodcraft would have been $255 plus tax. I would've originally purchased from Woodcraft except that 3 of the gouges I wanted are on backorder until July and August, so I surfed around. I haven't heard back from KMS to find out if these gouges are in stock. I sure hope so, because my wife and I are about to embark on a newbie attempt-to-carve-ball-and-claw adventure. I don't normally post about stuff like this, but I thought there'd be some carvers out there that might want to benefit from this pretty remarkable price difference.

Call up KMS (604) 522 5599 and ask what chisels come in the set. Ask for Jim Hubbeard, he's a pretty good guy and he's gotten back to me pretty quickly when I've requested info.

No affiliation to KMS, just a satisfied customer that recieves their monthly flyer.

>The best deal I have found on carving tools is from Wood Carvers' Supply -- it was recommended to me on this very board, but I have forgotten by whom. Their 20 piece set of carving chisels ($200) and 20 piece set of detailing tools ($170) are deals that cannot be beat, and of high quality. You have to like working with fishtail chisels though -- this is not a problem for me as that is my favorite shape tool -- previous to finding these chisels I spent most of my shopping time trying to figure out why the big carving tool companies did not make a wider variety of fishtails.
