Millers Falls Beam Drill

Todd Hughes

>Got a nice Millers Falls Boring Machine or Beam Drill....Went to my every wed. auction and first thing this guy comes up to me and says he has some tools in his truck if i am interested. Figured what the Hey. Get there and sure enough there on the front seat next to a box of Etc. tools is a real nice Millers Falls Boring Machine! I see a good many regular Beam drills but sure not Millers Falls metal ones. I have one other one and this was only the second one i have seen in probably 5 years or so I think,[I do live in an old tool Hell though]. Gave it a good going over as these things are prone to damage and repairs but this one was perfect and all complete. Asked him the price and he had a hard time coming up with one but finaly he did and then I did and we danced a bit until I got some neat wrenches out of the box and tossed in with the drill and the deal was done with me paying his price. Liked to say i got it cheap but had to pay $75,...OK I guess I did get it Kind of Cheap!....Fellow described a big strange vice he had that sure sounds like an Emmert that he said he will bring in for me. I told him not to skin me so bad next time on it!....Todd

Yeah, what Kevin said

>Blimey, I paid around $200 IIRC :~( for the one I have about 10 years ago. It is not a MF and is now where near as nice as that one. got to admit to making a hasty buy on it when I bought it as I had been looking for one for a long time so when this one came along I grabbed it. Why leave it at the antique shop when there is dust in my shop that needs collecting? Yeah, that's right, I've never used it. I was planning on getting into Post and Beam construction when I retired from the Navy, but as you know I didn't end up where I had wanted. Don't get me started on that subject again tho.

Don't skin me so bad next time eh? Yeah, what a way to grease the skids for an Emmert. You do know that in Scottish Todd means "Sly like a Fox" don't you? Let us know how much he had to pay you to take it off of his hands alright. ;~)
