This drawer pull business

Bill Houghton, Sebastopol, CA

>Couldn't think of anything for Ernie until this weekend, when I got a chance to poke around the boneyard (aka "barnshed") in the backyard. Now I've got five or six ideas, and having a heck of a time narrowing them down.

This tells me two things: 1) once I get started, I can be creative. 2) I've got a lot of inoperative tools. LOML should NOT hear the latter, as she will roll her eyes and ask, rhetorically, "Why do you NEED all this junk?" Please, no one send me an e-mail commenting on this: we share the e-mail address. Pleeeeeease.

Postal Service tip: if you can fit something into the 8-1/2 by 11 Priority Mail envelope, wrapped to protect it of course, postage is just $3.85; weight isn't relevant. But it has to be the Official United States Postal Service Priority Mail Envelope (accept no substitutes).

>Bill,

to help you narrow down your choices perhaps you should find out what drawers still need pulls, or would that spoil the surprise?

>Todd to answer that question I would have to know what I am going to put in the drawers. Good nesa Bad news. This is a big bench and I don't think I have enough tools to fill all of the drawers. So to make it easy on you how about sending a pull and then all the tools to fill it? No No No that won't work. I need another pull for layout tools and one for spoke shaves, squairs, I don't know I have kinda decided to just use the pulls and fill the drawers with the tools that go together not necacerly what the pull is. One reason is I have racks that hold most of the planes but have about 4 plane pulls and I like them all. I only intend on putting my block planes in in a drawer and my side beades and and some complex molders in a drawer. I can see putting my spoke shaves in one though and my realy good files is slots to protect them. I hope to have one of the three boxes finished this weekend with the pulls on it. and pictures for every one to see. I almost forgot I need somthing for my 4' drawer that holds my level collection. I have been thinking aboit a flat handle and attaching a pocket level to it but I just don't know. Easy answer any pull is fine.
