Why didn't this Stanley ring sell? *LINK*

Clay C in Miami

>Used to be, once in a while I'd see something interesting (or potentially worthy) on eBay, and post to ask a question about it, or just point it out. I have come to understand this is slightly bad form, and I can understand why someone who'd spent the time hunting down a prize, especially one mis-categorized, misspelled or mis-described might be unhappy if the competition were increased by folks seeing it in a post here. Once I thought about it, I realized I didn't (usually) post a link to something I was considering bidding on, so I quit altogether.

That said, having waited till this ended, I would've thought that this would be a VERY scarce item, and would have drawn some interest. Any thoughts on why it didn't?

>He states "no reserve" but set the starting bid at $30, which I think is a little high for a ring, and it would probably sell for $10-$20. Old Stanley tools and catalogs I think are in much higher demand than odd paraphenalia (sp?) and the chance of being able to resell at the same or higher value is better with well documented tools than with other items.

>I'm not sure that this ring was from Stanley , the logo doesn't look like any I remember stanley using but I could certainly be wrong. In any case I do think he would have had lots more people see it if he wrote the heading...Stanley Ring for Plane Chisel Tool Maker..... and i bet he would have sold it to. Don't think to many potential buyers do a search for Stanley Ring or even just plane Stanley either....Todd

My Grandmother worked for....

>Stanley Home Products, and that looks like their logo, if I'm not mistaken. They are/were an Amway type of company with terrific products, and a ring like that would be just the style for that company that had long time sale people.
