Met a Centralian

>Hi all,

I won a WC benefit auction of WoodSmith magazines that Paul M. in San Diego was generous enough to both donate and to deliver to my gar^h^^..err...shop. I shoulda been a more cordial host and at least cleaned the junk off of my bench but my current schedule hasn't left much time for hobbies. Regardless of the mess in my shop, we had a nice chat. Paul is a much more accomplished woodworker than myself (but I prolly have more tools :^P) and showed me how to put a burr on a scraper and use it (I got the hang of scraping after a bit more practice Paul). As I'd expect with anybody on this forum, Paul is an easy-going guy who happens to love ww. It was good to meet you Paul and I hope we cross paths again.

Cheers,

Mike

ps. I browsed about 1/3 of the magazines and already found many good ideas in them. :-)

>Hi Mike,

It was good to meet you too. To clarify a couple of points...

1) Don't apologize for the condition of your shop. I could see a lot more of your benchtop than I can see of my own. I've gotta clean that bench off more often.

2) You do have WAY, WAY, WAY more tools than I have! I was very impressed with your vast collection. I only buy what I need for a specific project, and I find that my tool purchases have waned quite a bit lately. I find that I can do a whole lot of stuff with a few chisels and a couple of planes.

I'm glad you like the magazines, and I'll see you at the next old-tool swap meet? In the mean time, get on with butchering some wood with all those clean toys you have. OK?
