Never heard of this plane maker

>I saw a plow plane at a local antique store, by a company called "JDucky Tool Co., Ohio", at least that is what it looked like. The plane was a model 119. I don't know if it is supposed to be just ducky or if that is a real name. They were asking $185 for it. The wood was in good shape, but it had an obviously wrong blade with it and it had what looked like a red milk paint coat that was worn off badly. Has anyone ever heard of this maker? Do you know any thing about them or what their planes might be worth?

>Sorry, I couldn't resist. I looked in "the bible", American Wooden Planes by Pollak, and couldn't find either a Jduckey or J. Duckey. All this means is that the Pollaks haven't come across one before, or that name isn't correct somehow. Sometimes an owner stamped his name over the maker's mark making it almost impossible to figure out who made it. That price sounds wildly optimistic, BTW.

>made that model number. I have read that Sandusky made tools until 1929. For price comparisons, search '(plow,plough) plane' on Ebay, then click on 'Completed Auctions'. The milk paint is not a factory finish.

>In the 1877 Sandusky Tool Co. Catalog, the 119 Panel Plow is described as beech, screw stop, with handle. It came with 4 irons. Painted? As Wiley said, not by the manufacturer.

As for value, I bought a working and nice Thos. Appleton, Boston, boxwood toted screw-arm plough with a set of Buck irons for $150, which seems about right.
