Sorta OT, anybody see "Hand Tools" on TV?

>Flipping around the channels last night I came across "Hand Tools", an episode of Modern Marvels on the History channel. I only tuned in half way through and they were in the midst of talking about planes...went on to drills and saws. I don't know what I missed in the first half. Not a lot of in depth info, but it was neat to see nonetheless.
I don't know if this was a repeat or not...I'll have to check the listings to see if it will play again.
Also aside, at the end they were showing a "modern" Stanley plane (the junk they build today), and it looked like it had some attachment on the toe next to the knob...looked like a level vial. Is that right? Why, why, why???
