>You've got a plane that needs a new tote (in my case cause its got the Stanley label). You look around for a cheapy at a garage sale but have no luck, you go into an antique shop with 30% off and walk out with a 4 1/2C Type 13 with a chip out of the cheek and a chip out of the lever cap total paid was $30US. As you walk out the store you are mumbling how you will sell the body, blade/chip breaker, etc and recoup your money.
You walk into the house and tell your wife not to worry, you don't need that fifth smoother, its a parts plane and you just want the wood.
It sits there for a day, now you think... I could tune it and see what happens.... maybe I could take it to work and use it for small projects on my lunch hour (got a woodworking shop at work).
Then you convince yourself that the parts wouldn't sell for much on EBay and you can buy a crappy tote and use it on the parts plane your stealing the tote from.
Repeat after me "NO, I am not a Collector, I need all of these plane"
