Some of us already have Shapers, T.L. wasn't the only one out there sharpening tools. They are easy enough to find, the trick is to find a good one.

I took a class from Tom a few years back in Michigan and in subsequent conversations I remember him saying don't ever try to make money sahrpening saws. I think a lot of well meaning intentitions get derailed because people think they can make money if they enjoy it. I don't agree. I love sharpening my 40 or so saws but doing it for money would wreck it for me.

Hey are you heading to Chesaning in April or Darleys barn in august?. I hope to make both. Bring some saws for me to buy.

Been waiting to get some $$$ up and send Tom a bunch o' saws too. :~( Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh well, so it goes eh? Guess I'll have to learn how to do it myself. Seems to me it is a required skill of a Neanderthal anyways. I have a copy of his video, watched about 10 minutes of it once, but couldn't stand to sit still any longer so I quit. Fiqured I watch it "later", but later hasn't come yet.

Looks like later is going to come sooner than I thought eh?

Yep - I reckon a saw needs a touch up sharpening around every 4-5 hours of use (depending on the usual factors :-)

In the old days, when sharp saws reduced sweat-on-brow, and made for faster work, saws were sharpened very regularly, either by the craftsman, or by a specialist, depending on availability of time and/or specialists and/or cash.

Yeah buddy, I was just a few weeks short of walking out the door when that NMCI showed up and started causing all kinds of havoc. They had a civilian contractor installing them according to a list. I told him eye to eye, nose to nose that if he touched mine I'd do him serious physical harm, and that I didn't care if I was next on the list or not. Basically I told him Touch it and Die. I dunno if I ever came up on that list, but he didn't touch it. Everytime I saw him I gave him the evil eye and he kept his distance from me and my office. I went to MD just a few weeks ago, and dang if they still ain't cussing and cursing NMCI. Yessir, I punched out just in time. I think it's just proof that the Good Lord still likes me. :~)

Glad you lost your whistle. If I find it I'll stomp on it for you.

How do you like the new tricks that Ted taught me? Actually you first tried to teach me this stuff, but I didn't get it then.
