Re: Guitar stand?

>Ernie,
I'm my younger days I developed a pretty nice looking and quite functional guitar stand and I custom made several of them to the specific instruments. The best feature was that they were very stable and came apart easily for transport.
Then one night I was watching some musicians I knew peform and someone's guitar was knocked off it's stand (not my stand) a store bought stand. Anyway it tumbled off the stage onto the dance floor and the tuning head snapped clean off the neck. Well this was a $500 guitar, a sad loss to be sure but it was the least expensive instrument on the stage that night and it got me to thinking about the how much these instruments were treasured by the people I had made stands for. What was worse, I couldn't shake the thought of if it had happened to a guitar on one of my stands, and even if it was a good design, how the instument's owner would always remember that fact.
After that I just didn't feel like building them anymore. I stuck to speaker cabinets where music was concerned. :)
