I'm Back! :~)

Todd O. Cronkhite Native of Maine

>WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, what a week I had. I drove up to Maryland on te 12th for Spring Break and had an absolute royal BLAST! I stayed with some friends in Lexington Park, caught up with some friends at Patuxant River Naval Base, and while on base I ran into a buddy from my years in Japan, visted with Todd Hughes for two days, visited with E.J. and Mary Mills who where my first friends in Maryland, and Ken Newell. One week of solid non-stop motion. Picked up many a cool goodie at various antique shops, flea markets and auctions. My favorite goodie is an old spiral screwdriver that I'm sure is the pre-cusor to the Yankee. It's old, old, old and is in excellent condition. I also picked up a Keen Kutter scrub plane that I am quite pleased with.

Tried to contact Bob Nelson, but was unsucessful. :~( Maybe next time eh Bob. I may be back up in August.

Travelling to and from Maryland was a snap. 730 miles both ways, and made them both in just over 10 hours. I now call my '93 S-10 "The Green Flash"after the Green Flash of Maine fame.

The best part of the trip was just being there tho. To see the V's of Canadian Geese flying in the grey skies of Maryland was a treat. Seeing wide open spaces, and old houses and barns was good too. Sure hated to leave, but had too. :~(

Didn't get in any fossil hunting as the weather wasn't conducive for it, but that's alright. Perhaps next time.

Looks like I've got lots of catching up to do, so I'll get to it. It's good to be back, did ya' miss me? ;~)

>I thought it was awful peaceful around here over the last week or so ;) I can sort of imagine what those two days with you and Todd Hughes both in the same general vicinity was like; I thought I heard a heard a loud bang east of here last week.

>Todd glad you made it home OK. Enjoyed our visit wish we could have spent some more time together.Glad you got some stuff at the Wed. auction, I am pretty sure your screwdriver is a Reids no. 2 " Lightning Brace" and probably dates from the late 1800's early 1900. Haven't seen to many no.2's most Reids you see are the bigger no.1.....I was pretty happy with the 238 I got havent had a chance to clean up the Gage plane, or get the brass nuts loose on those spokeshaves. Probably should have at $40 bid on Stanley 7 and Millers Falls 4 that got held up together as they were near mint I think

After you left thursday morning I went up to my every other week antique shop with Julie and she found me from behind the jewlery counter[!] a wonderful early American Goose Wing Axe and at $145 I thought it was a good buy......Well Pal am looking forward to your next visit ......Todd
