Make sure to read the shop shot...It has much better pics, and I've elaborated much more.
Essentially, I took a course at Conover Workshops. It was only two days. It took me about 9 hours total to build the plane, which is a Spiers #7.
The instructors were Ben Knebel and Doug Evans, of Shepherd Tool Co.
They laser cut the soles and sides, so all you need to do is shape the dovetails with files, and start assembling. Making metal dovetails was MUCH easier than what I thought. It was a snap.
I did a comparison between this plane and my LN #4, LN Low Angle Smoother, and my Lee Valley #4 1/2. This plane is FAR superior....and a steal at $249 fo the kit....
