Follow up to Finished some projects

I am a Windsor chair maker. I have been doing chair making demos since the early 90�s. This past year I did several of the Woodworks2003 shows. I wanted a nicer box than what I had, so I started making the one that I believe is in the May issue of Popular Woodworking. I made several modifications to suit my needs for a chest that was going too hauled around the country. Instead of figured maple for the case that is obviously going to take some abuse, I used a more utilitarian wood, and something that was left over from a renovation job that I was working on. I chose Cypress. I also added casters to make it easier to move and added an extra lower drawer since I did not need the space for power tools as the original plans called for. The lower drawers are on full extension slides as called for in the plans. The upper drawers do not have extensions also, as called for in the plans. The drawer fronts are mahogany. The lower drawers have hard maple cock beading with curly maple banding and bird�s eye maple inlays. The lower pulls are temporary. They are going to be replaced with drop pulls. The upper drawers are going to be the same, but I have not installed the cock�s beading on those drawers. The doors are about 3� deep and there will be tool storage added there as well. I plan on finishing the interior with orange shellac top coated with lacquer. For the outside I plan on applying a dark brown aniline dye and then a couple of coats of Lexington green milk paint followed with some BLO. I hope to have it finished in time for the three shows I been contracted to do for Woodworks next season.
