I didn't think the other plane had an iron with it, and the fill at the throat may have been done originally; Krenov mentions doing a fill to get a tight throat if you mess up the opening, or using a harder wood as a wear plate at the throat. A nice Hock iron to fit in there would sure make a nice plane; I love the design, and hoepfully will get around to copying it ;)
