In progress chest of drawers

George Huron

>This is an eight drawer chest in progress with Blum full extension tandem slides (hidden slides). It is made in poplar, red oak, red oak plywood, and birch plywood. The drawers are dovetailed all around (by a homemade katie type jig and a katie jig jr). The dust panels are pocket screwed and plate jointed into the sides. The back is 1/2 inch oak ply. The base is dovetailed by hand. The front frame of the case is dovetailed into the sides by hand. A marriage of hand and power tools techniques. This is a modified version of a case made by Kelly Mehler. This chest is deeper (21 inches deep) and uses mechanical slides. Also, I used through dovetails where the faceframe meets the sides. The drawer bottoms are 1/2 inch birch plywood (with a center munton for the wide drawers). The top is slightly over 1 inch thick (instead of 3/4).
