Dan- St James Bay Castings

>Dan, Here are the pictures of the St. James Bay Smoother and Panel Plane. I had never seen a panel plane in person other then in a black and white catalog so mine is different than the Norris. While I had seen repro Norrises before I made my smoother, as you can see I went with what I thought I would like to use in terms of the totes instead of trying to duplicate the Norris plane. Good luck on yours

>Dan, I don't have any bedrocks so I can't do a direct comparison. I have a Clifton No 6 ( which is in the bedrock style) and that does a great job. The smoother takes a slightly finer cut than the Clifton but is also pitched at 47.5 rather than 45. The panel plane is unlike anything I have ever used. It has so much mass and such a thick iron ( 1/4) it plows through anything with ease
