If you have access to Restoring, Tuning & Using Classic Woodworking Tools by Mike Dunbar read the section on wooden smoothers, there is lots of good information there. I also think there are a couple of articles on this website, one by R. J. Whelan and one by Tom Trail that would be helpful.

>I use 30 degrees as a starting point. If the blade is soft and bends, crank it up to 35. If you have a good blade and softer wood, you can try 25. Good luck.
