Another Special Invitation for Midwest Neanders *LINK*

Russ Allen- Chicago

>I couldn't make Chris Schwarz's open house. Instead I have made arraignments with Ben and Doug to give a similar presentation in Hampshire, Illinois (50 miles NW of downtown Chicago) on July 31st. There will also be a plane making class during the day where we will assemble Shepherd kits. There are currently 6 seats available. Ben recommends that people build either a #7 smoother in brass or steel or a shoulder in brass or steel or a chariot in brass or steel. He also said that folks are welcome to try the other planes but they'll get farther if they stick to these. Just when you thought it couldn't get better, Ben is offering a 10% discount on the kits for students. The presentation will be open to students and non students alike. I'll be handling the class and presentation rsvp's, the kits will be ordered from Ben.

There is also a joint mtwca/eaia tool meet the next day. You need to be a member or a guest of a member to get in before 9am. It opens at 6am. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be a limit of how many guests each member can bring.

In unrelated news, I have put a message in the events message board about the casting class I'll be co-teaching in April. I'm guessing there will be more interest in Ben and Doug's class but I thought I'd at least mention my class here.

You could throw in Mitre Planes too...

Doug Evans

>Hi Russell:

Mitre planes are actually easier to build than smoothers, and could be included in the options.

Cheers,

Doug
