Birthday Gift?

Brent Langdon, Sterling, VA

>Thanks gang! My 33rd birthday is later this

A search turned up a lot of discussions about these planes and I through my research I was able to conclude that there is an overwhelming month and I have been thinking that a Veritas plane would be a special treat. I have been going back and forth about which one I *need* the most: a low angle block plane, a low angle smooth plane or a #4 1/2.

consensus among the group: get all of them! ;-)

I gave my wife a list with those three planes and a set of Ashley Iles chisels figuring that I would be happy with whatever she picked. I am crossing my fingers that she does not decide to go with something from LL Bean instead!

>Two christmases ago I marked up the LN catalog with about 10 options for my wife to get me a gift. 4 1/2, beading plane, 212, 112, dovetail saws, 98/99, carcass saw, 073, 97, 140 ....

Guess what was under the tree?

A set of Shimano Dura Ace spdr bike pedals and a pair of Diadora road cycling shoes. She really suprised me.

Really great stuff (that I needed), worth about what the 4 1/2 would have cost, but had to think quick and be excited. I was, but I had to keep the dissapointment off my face and out of the equation. I really thought I was getting tools....

So I'm just saying... be prepared!

Sandor(who got a Baume & Mercier watch this year for xmas instead of drool tools...will she ever learn?)
