Locating rough Walnut

Harold Blair - Traditional Craftsman

>I have a commission to build some furniture using walnut. I need about 50-60 bf, mostly 4/4 (a little 6/4). I have used Woodfinder from this site but am not impress with what was brought up. I do not mind ordering. My normal suppliers do not carry walnut (I use mostly cherry). Any suggestions on who supplies good quality walnut at a good price? Thanks.

>Goby Walnut -- that's all they carry. I've purchased from them and have been very happy with the wood -- nice color / figure.

>Harold, Homestead Heritage buys from a Dallas supplier. The walnut I used in the rocker was purchased from that supplier (I happened to be there when their salesman visited, don't remember their name), very attractive. Might be worth a phone call to find out.

>Harold: I second Goby. I have had them deminsion some wide stock for me as my planer won't go that wide. Stuff is beautiful. I just told them what I was making and they sent me ezactly what I needed. Took a week or two extra as it was a special sized S4S.

>Harold, Phillips Lumber Mill in Dakalb usually has walnut. I don't know if it will meet your needs or not.
