Is $30 a fair asking price?

Check ebay's completed auctions for a pretty decent idea of what the market is willing to pay.

Unless you're at the stage of life where you're squeezing pennies, you may want to go ahead with it. At worst, you might be paying the price of a movie (alone, no date) extra.

I've picked up at least two planes cheap because the handles were split across their width (or, to put it another way, horizontally). With the help of one of those plasticy clamps that tightens with a trigger and some yellow glue, I repaired them in about five minutes. The repairs have held up fine.
