Bridge City bevel gauge question
Ryan Stagg -- Cincinnati
>Greetings All,
My lovely wife was kind enough to by me Bridge City's latest bevel for Christmas -- I believe it's the TB-6. This replaces my (perfectly functional, frankly) cheapo bevel, which is of the wingnut-at-the-pivot locking variety.
This new bevel is of the end-locking school, and I've no experience with such a beast. My question: How well should the bevel blade hold with this design? My wingnut-locking $5 model holds even if you drop it on the floor after it's tightened. The new one, on the other hand, can be moved from its locked position with a small to moderate amount of hand force, no matter how tightly the end is twisted. Should I ask Bridge City about this, or should I just expect some play because this type of mechanism?
This is my first tool from BC, btw. The tool is quite beautiful and has the heft and machining quality that you would expect from them. I'm just a little concerned that I have a defective piece, but I wanted to check with the pro's before I call them.
