>Their website still needs a little work, but it appears to do the job. Only the Deutsch language option is currently working (click on the German flag on the David Strasmann+Co home page), but the photos and graphics are clear enough that you can figure out what you need and what the price is, even if you only read English. They have a very large, impressive selection of carving tools. For further translation help, try BabelFish.

Does anyone have experience with the fit, finish, and durability of these tools, for example, in comparison to Pfeil (Swissmade)?

I've got one

>of their 30 mm #3, and I got to try a few others. The carving school where I took lessons used to sell them along with Ashleys. I think they're excellent tools. The factory bevel is similar to Pfeil, i.e. optimized for softer woods. The finish is good, and the steel is excellent. I'd bring it to the CJWA meeting so you could try it this week, except I'll be travelling for work again and won't be able to make the meeting. This is REALLY annoying, because I was also really looking forward to meeting Doug and Ben and trying an infill to see what all the fuss is about. Oh well, gotta make a living, I guess.

If you can wait, I'll bring it next time.

>I've managed to accumulate about 30 of them, including some very tiny ones. It's hard to compare them to the Pfeils, since the Pfeils I have were bought new; but my impression is that the Dastras maintain an edge a bit longer. I just recently got a set that duplicate most of the Pfeils, so I'll compare them this week, let you know.
