Times Change

>"...People Change. Interest rates fluctuate..." (to crib from one of my two favorite spoof movies. Anyone remember the rest of that line?)

I digress before even beginning.

I recently bought FWW Issue #49 to round out my library (library! not a collection!), published in 1984 -- a neat 20 years ago. A casual perusal of the pages reminds me how much the hand tool world has changed. While the following companies may have existed back then, I didn't see any sign of them in the advertising pages: Lie-Nielson, Lee Valley/Veritas, Adria, Shepherd, Steve Knight, S&S, St. James Bay...the companies making today's best hand tools, nowhere in sight.

Although I have yet to save up the pennies to take the plunge into the high-end tools, their presence has elevated the conversation even for us rust hunters.

The rest of the saying

>"Why such hubbub about someone changing their stance? People change. Interest rates fluctuate. It may rain tomorrow or not. If people don't change, they stagnate. Even the most fervently held belief can be changed by a strong argument to the contrary.

Promises should be kept among friends and are often broken among enemies. The rest is dynamic by nature.
