>Sanford, there's a thread on this subject that you can find via the search engine. I'm using low carbon ground flat stock by Starrett purchased from a local tool supplier. 1/8" is too thick for my #12 1/2 but 3/32" works.
I get a 3" x 24" piece for $21.00. It makes four 6" blades..about $5.25 apiece. If you would like a cheaper alternative, many folks here recommend using old saw blades.

>Thanks! I will check out the LN replacement. But I wonder about Frank's comment about making his own from low carbon stock. I know little about steel, except that it is not wood! If I wanted to make my own, do I look for low carbon steel? Somehow I thought tool steel was not low carbon. Is the steel in saws low carbon? Any suggestions as to where I can read about such things? Hm. . . maybe their is a thread I should search for. Sanford.
