Record Tools - Update

Hi

A few quick notes to clarify (as much as possible) the situation with Record Tools.

From what we now know, Record will continue to make virtually everything they do now. It appears that the plane line will be withdrawn from distribution in the North American Market. The majority of the vise line is unavailable at the moment, and Record intends to continue production, but only after re-sourcing the castings.

What this means is:

1) Record vises will probably run out soon, and it is not known for how long. When they do re-appear, the cost may be different.

2) The planes will no longer be available through distribution, but can be imported from Britain (much as most us (companies) do with some Stanley products now). If the distribution operation was uneconomic, theres no reason to believe the prices on planes will be any lower either I would anticipate increases there too.

Information is still spotty will let you know when thing become more clear.

Cheers,

Rob Lee

Thanks, Rob, for the update, and welcome. Please keep us current on the Record situation, if you don't mind.

Best, Ted

Re: Record Tools - Update

Sounds like it is not as bad as it could have been but castings will probably come from South Africa, India or elsewhere I suspect. They must have closed the foundry at their main site.
