Sealant suggestion

I am needing to replace some wooden stops on a few of my exterior fixed windows in my shop.
Looking for a suggestion for a sealant/caulk to bed them in. They will be stained western red cedar.

I'm sure many are good. I like to use Alex Plus for external use. What I use goes on white so I can see it easily and dries clear. Many years and it is still sealing around windows, doors, siding. Paints well, at least with acrylic paint.

Thanks! I am attempting to avoid pure silicone as it is a bit messy.

If you don't like messy, stay away from 3M 5200 Marine Sealant. 
Everything else about it (except the price) is superb for external waterproofing.

I used conventional old style hangers along the tops and a hook and eye centered at the at the bottom. I also used 3/4" wide soft adhesive backed foam all alond the edges. That approach allows me to easily romove the panels for maintenance and repairs.
