I went through several brands that either didn't work very well or died quickly.

I now have a Panasonic 4 phone wireless system that has worked very well for [i'm guessing] 7 or more years. No idea if whatever they are selling today will have the same satisfaction.

Chances are that whatever brand consumer electronics one buys will be built as cheaply as they can get away with and will be a crapshoot.

Exactly the same experience. I don't know what model my Panasonic is but it had been working for several years longer than any other system I have had. It was made in Malaysia, not China, if that makes any difference.

We have a set of Vtech wireless phones. They have good range and work quite well we've had ours for 5 years or more. They operate in the 1921.536-1928.448 MHz range.

We have 5 Panasonic KX-TGA410C phones that are 6 years old and the batteries are still OK. Very good range and features. I don't know if that model is still made.

You CAN forward landline to a Cell phone....

The dollar store can be a good source of inexpensive batteries assuming you have replaceable batteries. Often they are in plastic-wrapped multiple cells with a little connector on 2 wires.

This smart phone I've had couple years has a battery charge wire that came with it. I plug it in when I git up first thing. Plug it in all thru the day to keep the battery fully charged. It has more senc than I do.

So I took a look at VTech vs. Uniden. Why is VTech 1/3 the cost? No way to ask questions as to whether chargers are included with remote bases.

Thoughts?

I can second the thumbs-up for Panasonic. I've had a Panasonic KX-TG9333T DECT 6.0 system (that I've added a couple of extra handsets to) since October of 2008 and it has worked flawlessly. The only maintenance has been battery replacements but there haven't actually been many of those consider the years.

I bought mine from Amazon but I'm not sure that this exact model is still current although it is still on the Amazon site for sale from that third-party vendor. I'd check to see what the current models are before doing any serious shopping.

I like Panasonic too, have had the current phones so long I'm wearing off some of the fit and finish! I bought batteries for earlier Panasonic phones from Radio Shack, when there was a Radio Shack...

I have had pretty good luck with Panasonic over the years. I had one set of 5 + base that lasted over 6 -7 years then the "ringers" stopped working on some of the units. I replaced them with a similar Panasonic setup about 8-9 years ago. All are still working fine. I have one of the remotes in my shop ~ separate building. The remote phone is about 60 -70' from the base station and works fine. The batteries in my set are rechargeable "as I remember either alkaline or lithium" available at Wally world or Amazon etc. Don't think I have replaced any of this set yet all still working fine.

I can only say that while some phones have unique batteries, my Panasonic units use standard AAA NiMH rechargeable cells and the good ones seem to go on for 5+ years without degradation.

We've had both Panasonic and currently VTech. We've had good luck with both, the Panasonics became outdated, I don't remember why. Our VTech system has a useful feature - Bluetooth. I don't have to carry my cell phones (yeah, 2 of 'em) around the house. Pair both phones to the VTech base so I can walk in the house, put both phones down and if they ring the VTech phones ring. No text or email though if that's a consideration.
