Re-organised shop

Mark Nowicki

For the past couple of months, whenever I had the time, I have been moving things around, mainly to break out the funk and hopefully reignite the woodworking spark.

First I replaced the filter bag on my 1HP dust pump with a HEPA canister, which made a noticeable difference in air flow. I have also shortened the piping as much as possible.

Second was to move the bench from the wall and placed it in the middle, making for easier clamping as well as allowing more daylight to reach the bench top.

The final change was today.

I took Paul Sellers' advice and raised the bench from 31" to 38", my back appreciates this most of all and an added bonus is more storage under the bench.

Mark, is that the 2200 cabinet saw? I recently picked up a 550 jointer. You don't see those saws for sale very often. Nice find!

Looking good.

Your Blue lazy Susan bins....where did you get them? I was just looking at a corner in my shop and thinking I need a lazy susan.

One possibility I've looked at previously, Barry:

It is a Inca Major 341.018 table saw. It came with the mortising table, miter gage

with flip stop and some extra parts. (picture added to album)

I paid the asking price of CDN$600 due to the condition, it looked like it just came out of a LeeValley store.

From this place :

https://www.mam.quebec/en/

On a Friday took my usual bike ride through the College Campus where they are located and found out that they were getting ready for a big garage sale on Saturday.

Oh!oh! said I, charmed my way in and paid CDN$150 for both and they delivered to my shop due to the weight.

These are rated at 500 lbs per tray, the trays turn on ball bearings.

They are like Mary Poppins' bag, infinite capacity for anything I put in them

After three years I still have empty compartments.

I was told they originally came from the Bombardier regional jet shop in Montreal.

I MIGHT be in at $150 for two but at those new and higher prices I would have to pass.

I threw away a kitchen lazy Susan I could have converted.

I am getting more and more ruthless about what to store and not. Doing my best to store stuff at the borg. I have and orange one and a blue one about a mile or two away.

The problem with storing stuff is you have to know you have it and know where it is. I am considering gene therapy to kill my Pack rat Gene.
