Tracfone (cell phone) question

Tracfone tells me they are switching to "VoLTE" and my current 5 year old flip phone will no longer work with VoLTE. Is this statement true? I only use the phone for occasional calls and need something small and easy to use?

Probably has to do with the SIM card or lack of one in your phone.

I replaced my phone a few months ago and they told me that my old phone would not have worked on the new networks much longer in any case. I gather the newer networks being installed don't talk to the older phones.
