OT - Tile
Mark Mandell - Gone Round In New Jersey
Have a piece of marble tile on a tub surround that's popped loose. I'd rather not get into chipping off the original thin-set, but not sure what to use to re-stick it to the structure while keeping it level with the surrounding tiles.
Suggestions?

Isn't marble a stone that will get a shadow with a solvent based adhesive?

That's why I was considering either epoxy or an acrylic contact cement that will evaporate before joining.
Since the the existing thin-set has a pattern that matches the tile's back surface, looks like a thin butter of thickened epoxy will be most likely to get this put in place.

then liquid nails it into place. I have done this to a lot of tiles that have come loose over the years.

There are some double-sided tapes ("supervisor tape", as a friend used to call it) that you need a crow bar to remove.
