Alrighty, glad fer tha come bqc. Jess wondered what sorts items do they/yall discuss/build, kinda wood/lumber, you gotta be well versed with rest ov the world. Kinda tools that are different from ours, ya kno jes common things, aint trying to start a world war,OK.

If this is to far out there, jes let it die rite heaw, will be find.

Buckaroo, in my experience there are more hobby woodworkers interested in acquiring tools than using them. There are also too few recognising the value of both power and hand tools used to compliment one another.

The most popular wood used for building is a timber species called Plywood. Australian hardwoods tend not to be grown elsewhere. There is wisdom there

Woodworkers around the world are generally friendly and passionate people.

Southern silky oak (Grevillea robusta), Australian Pine (Casuarina equisetifolia), and cajeput (Melaleuca leucadendra) grow in Florida, and several species of Eucalyptus grow in California. When I lived in subtropical climes, I didn't know any better and didn't seek them out. I probably would have soon found out that the tools I had at the time were not up to the challenge.

Bill, toughest thing I EVER TRIED TO TURN WAS a somewhat twisted Australian pine bout 4 inches in dia. It was akin to stainless steel, now that U mention 'challenge your tools.' Yeaw I resided in coastal central Fl. fer awhile. Good place to live. Guess I should display a poem a nephew wrote about me, it is not real short.

I lived in coastal central Florida for quite a while. One of the houses I owned lost a lot of landscaping due to salt water intrusion and a very hard freeze, including a gumbo limbo tree, an everglades fan palm and a black olive, Bucida buceras. Finally, I decided to cut down the Bucida. I didn't have a chain saw, but I did have a sharp felling axe. It wasn't going to happen! The axe just bounced off. I left it for the next owner to deal with.
