I have the Senco version and used it to install decking on a number of decks. I like it a lot. apparently I got a good one. I used the square drive screws and they worked well. Surprisingly well. Do need to install a fresh bit once in a while.

I have not seen the Hitachi version other than to walk past it at Lowes. I will have to ask but I believe my son showed me both 7" and 5" bits at Lowes.

To release the bit have you tried pulling on the ring in the "Wrong" direction? I had one tool that was the opposite of all the others.

AS an Side, just to make me feel old and foolish....I got it out recently and it did not work worth a Damn. Had to really bear down. Put some shoulder into it. Could not figure out what the Hell. Eventually discovered I had it in reverse. Take my word for it the screws go in much better if it's in Forward. You can grind them in the other way, but they don't hold as well.

I've tried it as well, and had others working with me that I had to gently point out their mistake.

I guess if Lowes has this, I might just go by and see if I can see a manual AND get the drivers I need.

Hey thanks JKJ, that was what I needed. Although those weren't very clear directions. They kept referring to Fig 6 or 7, which were not on any of the nearby pages, and I have no idea what this means, (1) While rotating the Sub-Stopper pull it out from the locator. But finally if figured the best thing was to just go stick the bit in a vice and jerk, which is all it took.

Now maybe I can just take that bit with me to the store to get the other stuff I may need.

It confused me too, especially not having one in hand.

There is a confusing list of parts on page 3 and some labeled drawings on page 5

I see what may be figures 6 and 7 on page 2.

Yes I saw that, but none of that related to the collated feeder magazine that came on it.

The good news is that it did lead me to go ahead and pull harder. Initially I was afraid I’d break something, but it has gotten easier.
