Unusual alchemy *LINK*

Converted wood into machinery in 2019. LOL Quite the opposite of my usual process around here. Sold my wood pen blank inventory in April and used the profit to buy a Hybrid Pantorouter before Uncle Sam could get their hands on it. Package arrived Monday, assembly will be today. It will be an interesting comparison since I owned a JDS Multirouter when I was in business.

Interesting product. Similar to the JDS Multi-Router (which I have), but about a thousand dollars less - for the basic package. Templates, etc., cost about the same. Some interesting templates, which might make it a bit more versatile.
I particularly like the dust collection, which the JDS doesn't have. Gives me an idea, though. Wonder if it could be adapted?

I have no personal hands-on experience, but the Pantorouter gets very good first-hand reviews from a professional woodworker who I know and respect. Members of the Del-Val SAPFM chapter got a demonstration of his machine a few months back.
No, not all period furniture makers make their mortises and tenons with backsaws, chisels and mallet.

The base of the dust collector adapter is quite a custom piece. Contoured to clear the arbor lock on the router is just one of the features. But the round brush is extremely nice and they sell them for $20 each. I can take a picture of the base if you want.
Assembly went quite well

Very nice tolerances on the cut parts. Table is one big extrusion. Fit and finish is extremely nice. Final set up tomorrow. Several steps to centering and verifying the setup.

Yeah, I'd like to see a photo of the base. Maybe I can figure out how to cobble one up.
An Aside....

About 20 years ago my son and I went to Atlanta to Highland Hardware (WoodWorking) to see Richard Raffin. Walking around in the store I came upon a MultiRouter and was playing with the various handles on it. Another fellow was watching and I said "I am not sure what this is, but I like it." He said "Me too, it has a high Gysmology Factor."

I like it a lot. I've got template sets for about 20 different sized mortises and tenons, as well as a couple sizes of dovetails and box joints.
BTW, I've also found that with a 6 or 8 mm end mill it makes great mortises for use with dominoes.
I adapted an Incra jig to the table on mine, making it even more accurate to set up that it already was.
