Your description of the weather in Prague brought back chilly memories of visiting northern Europe in winter. Brrr. I must say that I'm becoming quite content with our 27°C winter temperatures here in Florida, after more than half a century of shoveling snow in Pennsylvania.

Derek, I envy your Vienna holiday trip. I have very fond memories of visiting Vienna (and the markets) in the early '80's during the Xmas season following a 2- inch snowfall there. Gorgeous!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Jim

Summer/winter

Hi Mike,

Good recall. We do have a little place up in Canada where we go for the summer, but, as of last year, Florida is our official residence, after 45 years in PA. We enjoy not having to deal with snow anymore.

A topic for a related conversation sometime is how downsizing and moving affectyour woodworking routine. Maybe we'll make that the subject of our next Ides survey in January.

Since you have been in Florida, you must have missed the swarm of Vancouver Island/Juan de Fuca Plate earthquakes earlier this month.

While I'm not planning on downsizing my shop any time soon, I do have some sizing/tool choice/tool transport/two shop issues I need to address. (Au contraire, I really need to add on to the shop.) Changes in my wife's job responsibilities require us to find an apartment or town house in Mordor. While she will be able to come home on weekends, it would be advantageous for me to set up some woodworking capabilities, for small projects at least, down there so we can spend more time together (and fewer meals eating alone).
